Your eyes have no option but to feast themselves on the visual deliciousness of Guerlain’s Christmas 2017 offering. Behold the Gold Palette, more shiny then the shiniest thing you can think of, more exquisite than literally any other palette in 2017, and the ideal Christmas gift – for yourself. Six stunning eyeshadows and two blushers in a beautiful case, complete with mirror and itty bitty brush. I wasn’t sure what exactly drew me to this, definitely either the gorgeous art deco pattern imprinted on the blushers (which sadly vanishes after the merest of swatches), or the intense sparkle of the four foil eyeshadows. Let’s take a closer look –
The first two pans are both mattes, a brown and a stoney-beige, both very creamy and they blend easily. The sparkly shades are a yellow gold, a silver, a deep copper, and an antique gold. The first two (above) are on the glittery side, whist the other two (below) are creamier foils. A glitter glue is essential with the top two, as there is a bit of fallout, but they’re all fantastically long lasting, perfect for the Christmas party season. The blushers I’m not so sold on, I loved their decorative appearance, but once that had gone I was left with a pale pink (below) with a hint of gold glitter, a bit like a less-glittery Orgasm by Nars, and the lower blush just didn’t really show up on my cheeks at all. You can just about see it in the swatch below, it’s a shame they didn’t have a pink and a coral, then it could have been probably one of my all-time favourite Christmas palettes.
There’s still a few of these on the shelves, but hurry if you’ve definitely got your sights set on this one. It’s been really hyped online, and is definitely one of the best of the season, if not of the whole year.
