I'm looking forward to the Asia House Film Festival, which runs from the 27th-31st March. This is a great opportunity to see new and classic Asian cinema, and this year's theme is New Generations. There'll be new styles explored, as well as new landscapes and new modes of production from Japan, India, Vietnam, Cambodia, Myanmar, and more. The opening gala will be held at the Ham Yard Hotel, and this will be one of the main venues for the festival, there are four in total – including the awesome Rich Mix in Bethnal Green.
I'm particularly looking forward to seeing Yangon Calling – Punk in Myanmar, an award-winning documentary about Myanmar's underground punk scene, filmed secretly in the former military dictatorship using hidden cameras. The festival also has a special focus and retrospective on Mongolian cinema, of which I know zero about but I'm very much intrigued!
