It's the start of a new week, the sun is shining, the Chelsea Flower Show kicked off today, and people are making plans for things like Wimbledon and music festivals. It can mean one thing – seeya later, spring, it's almost time for summer. When it's this sunny I just want to sit in the garden with an iced tea, a good book, and some music. It's not that easy for me as I live in a block of flats, and the communal garden can only be described as a mixed bag when it comes to what people want out of it. It's handy being freelance as I can take advantage of the garden when it's emptier in the day, and it's nice to roll out a blanket and listen to the radio.
The Hepburn II from My VQ is an absolute thing of retro beauty. A sleek, portable design that comes in a range of colours. It can run off the mains or battery, it easily scans for available DAB stations, and you can preset your faves. You can also connect your phone or tablet and not only will it charge them, you can also play your music from these devices, and it works with bluetooth as well. The front facing speaker gives fantastic volume and clarity of sound, making it ideal to take to picnics and beach parties where everyone will want to hear. But even if the sun goes in tomorrow, or you're just not a sunshine kinda person, these retro radios look great in any room, I personally think they go hand in hand with Lush bath-bombs and relaxing baths.
There are also seven Emma Bridgewater designs, making this a fantastic pairing of British radio craftsmanship and British print design. The Emma Bridgewater designs (top pic) range from sleek and stylish to utterly cute, and they all manage to be very summery. For a limited time you can get £50 off of one of these beauts (the Emma Bridgewater ones only) with code PROSECCO50. I would choose the heart one, no, the spotty one… no, the fruity one. Or probably all of them… They make the cutest gift, handy as this time of year also marks wedding season, or you might know someone who has just graduated from university and would love one of these for their new home. Enjoy!
